LEARN THE FAITH
Free Will Baptist Catechism
A simple question-and-answer tool for teaching biblical truth in the church and at home.
TEACHING WITH CLARITY
What Is a Catechism?
A catechism is a structured series of questions and answers used to teach the central truths of the Christian faith. Christians have used this method for centuries because it is clear, memorable, conversational, and well suited for both children and adults.
The Free Will Baptist Catechism was prepared as a practical discipleship resource that can be used in only a few minutes at a time while helping families and churches build a strong foundation in biblical doctrine.
01
A Tool Under the Authority of Scripture
The catechism does not replace the Bible and does not carry the authority of Scripture. Its purpose is to summarize biblical teaching and direct learners back to the Word of God.
Each question should become an invitation to open the Bible, discuss the meaning of the answer, pray together, and apply the truth to daily life.
02
For Children and Families
Parents can use one question each week during family devotions, after a meal, before bedtime, or while traveling. Younger children may begin by memorizing a short answer, while older children can read the supporting Scriptures and explain the doctrine in their own words.
Consistency matters more than length. Five faithful minutes each week can create a lifetime of biblical vocabulary and spiritual conversation.
03
For Adults and Small Groups
Adults can use the catechism to review foundational doctrines, identify questions that need further study, and practice explaining Christian beliefs clearly.
Small groups may read one question, examine the supporting biblical passages, discuss practical implications, and close with prayer.
04
A Simple Weekly Rhythm
Read: Read the question, answer, and supporting Scriptures aloud.
Repeat: Say the answer together several times during the week.
Explain: Discuss important words and allow everyone to ask questions.
Apply: Identify one way the truth changes worship, character, relationships, or decisions.
Pray: Turn the doctrine into praise, confession, thanksgiving, and petition.
