LIFE TOGETHER
The Church Covenant
A shared commitment to love God, care for one another, pursue holiness, support the church, and serve Christ’s mission.
A SOLEMN PROMISE
What Is a Church Covenant?
A church covenant is a written expression of how believers intend to live together as a congregation under the lordship of Jesus Christ and the authority of Scripture.
It does not save us, replace the Gospel, or create a perfect church. It reminds us that following Christ includes real commitments to worship, discipleship, holiness, generosity, mutual care, unity, service, and mission.
01
We Give Ourselves to God and One Another
Christian fellowship begins with faith in Jesus Christ and submission to the Word of God. Having received grace, believers voluntarily commit themselves to a local body where they can worship, grow, serve, and bear one another’s burdens.
Key Scriptures: Romans 12:1–5; 1 Corinthians 12:12–27; 2 Corinthians 8:5.
02
We Pursue Holiness and Integrity
Members seek to love and obey God, resist sinful conformity, live honestly, and maintain a credible Christian witness. This commitment is made in dependence upon grace rather than confidence in human strength.
Key Scriptures: Romans 12:2; 2 Corinthians 7:1; Ephesians 4:17–32; 1 Peter 1:13–16.
03
We Practice Personal and Family Discipleship
The covenant encourages regular Scripture study, private prayer, family devotion, public worship, self-denial, faith, and good works. Christian growth is both personal and shared.
Key Scriptures: Deuteronomy 6:4–9; Matthew 6:5–18; Acts 2:42; 2 Peter 3:18.
04
We Gather, Worship, and Give
Members commit to the regular assembling of the church, participation in its worship and ordinances, and faithful financial support according to their ability.
Giving supports the ministry of the congregation, care for those in need, and the church’s benevolent and missionary work.
Key Scriptures: Hebrews 10:24–25; 1 Corinthians 11:23–26; 2 Corinthians 8:1–15; 9:6–12.
05
We Watch Over One Another in Love
Covenant life includes receiving biblical encouragement and correction with humility, protecting one another’s reputation, strengthening the weak, comforting the afflicted, and seeking peace.
This is not control or intrusion. It is loving, accountable fellowship shaped by truth, patience, mercy, and the desire for restoration.
Key Scriptures: Galatians 6:1–2; Ephesians 4:1–3, 15–16; 1 Thessalonians 5:11–15.
06
We Seek Christ’s Influence in the World
Believers carry Christian conviction into every part of life and pray for God’s kingdom to advance. The church labors to proclaim the Gospel, serve neighbors, strengthen families, and demonstrate the love and justice of Christ.
Key Scriptures: Matthew 5:13–16; 6:10; Philippians 2:14–16; Colossians 3:17.
07
We Support Discipleship, Missions, and Evangelism
The covenant closes with a commitment to educational and denominational ministry, missions, Sunday school, evangelistic work, and prayer for the sanctifying grace of God.
The goal is not institutional success for its own sake, but the salvation of people, the maturity of believers, and the glory of Jesus Christ.
Key Scriptures: Matthew 28:18–20; Acts 1:8; 1 Thessalonians 5:23–24.
